Quang Nam Festival honoring values of heritages
The fifth Quang Nam Heritage Festival, scheduled for June 21–26, will honour local and national cultural values with the ultimate goal of boosting tourism development.

The 5 th Quang Nam Heritage Festival, co-organised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and Quang Nam Provincial People’s Committee, is expected to see the participation of 18 provinces and cities that are home to world heritage sites and biosphere reserves.

High on the list of scheduled programmes will be the sharing of experiences in heritage preservation among ASEAN countries and the aforementioned Vietnamese localities, cultural exchanges, and local tourism and cultural promotion, said Vice Chairman of the provincial committee Tran Minh Ca.

Hoi An City and the My Son relic site will host the festival’s major events, marking the 10thanniversary of the UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage.

Major activities will include an exhibition, entitled “Vietnam-ASEAN Cultural Heritage Space”, the 3rd International Choir Festival and the 2013 Miss Ethnic Vietnam pageant.

Other activities include an art festival for Vietnamese ethnic minority groups, a Cham cultural festival, a reenactment of a typical early 20th century night in Hoi An’s ancient town, and a showcase of 500 ancient lanterns and antiques.

On this occasion, Quang Nam has launched a host of tours to the Ho Chi Minh Trail, traditional brocade weaving villages and hamlets of Co Tu ethnic groups.
