The achievement obtained in the field of Landscape and Environment at Hue monuments in 2012
The year 2012 was the second year to implement the Project of conservation planning and promoting cultural values of the Hue monuments in the period 2010-2020 according to the Decision No. 818/QĐ-TTg dated June 07, 2010 that was approved by the Prime Minister. Also in this year the Thua Thien Hue People's Committee approved the project for the tourist service development in Hue monuments (by Decision No. 2295/QĐ-UBND dated December 5, 2012); the Prime Minister approved the specific mechanisms and policies to facilitate implementation of conservation projects (by Decision No. 1880/QĐ-UBND dated December 12, 2012). These documents are legal foundations facilitating the restoration and promotion of the Hue monument values.

The heritage landscape and environment is among important matters of Hue heritage conservation. Many programs have been implemented and achieved successes in 2012. Among them were the planting trees as the greenbelt around the Minh Mang tomb"; the adaptive conservation restoration of Thieu Phuong garden; the collection, preservation and multiplication of genes for the sustainable conservation of monument landscape; build up the plan "The waste treatment in the Imperial City by microbiological" in collaboration with the Hue University of Sciences continues to multiply the theme: “The waste water treatment by microbiology, the mesures against moss, algae adhering to Bat Trang bricks to prevent from slippery paths within Hue Monuments.

In 2012, The Department of Landscape and Environment (belongs to HMCC) produced more than 60,000 flowers, nearly 10,000 flower pots, with over 15 types of flowers, maintained the main gardens in the Imperial City and other monuments with flowers to serve the tourism; built up the  plan for cutting, bending and better care for more than 5,000 bonsai; decorated and exhibited Hue bonsai  in the Co Ha garden to serve the Hue Festival 2012; promoted the restoration of the garden to serve tourists such as: the gardens of the Royal Theatre, Temple dynastic, the Royal Treasury, Thai Hoa Palace, the Residence of Longevity, tennis court in the Imperial City, the Tomb of Minh Mang, Tu Duc and Khai Dinh ...The surrounding landscape of the Hue monuments is reviewed regularly to take action to prune off branches and prevent from the broken trees influence the architecture and landscape.

In 2013, the HMCC will continue to preserve the natual settings around the monuments for the sustainable development.
