The opening ceremony of artifact exhibition of collector Duong Phu Hien at Hue Museum of Royal Antiquities
On the occasion of Hue Tourism Golden Week in 2013 (1st Week, from 21st-27th April, 2013) and responding to the Hue Traditional Craft Festival in 2013, the opening ceremony of exhibition on “Artifact collection of collector Duong Phu Hien and artifacts reception donating by individuals” took place in the morning of April 21st, 2013 at Hue Museum of Royal Antiquities.

The ceremony has honor to welcome Mr. Nguyen Khoa Diem, Former Head of the Central Culture and Ideology Section, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thien, Provincial Party Committee Secretary, Mr. Phan Cong Tuyen, Chief of the Propaganda and Education Board of Provincial Communist Party Committee, Mr. Ngo Hoa, Vice-Chairman of the Standing PPC, Mr. Phan Ngoc Tho, Vice-chairman of the PPC, antique collector Duong Phu Hien together with many local and national press agencies in the province. 

Duong Phu Hien is a well-known antique collector among Vietnamese collectors on antiquities.  He owns a massive collection of over 40 thousand artifacts that include valuable collections on porcelain, bronze, enameled bronzeware, pearl, gold, silver, fabric, calligraphy, etc. The origin of antiquities is also very rich from Vietnam, China, India, Southeast Asia countries, ancient kingdoms around Tibet and European countries…

Most 26 artifacts of precious metals introduced in this exhibition originate from Europe in the early 20th century.  Many of them were diplomatic presents from France and China to the Nguyen dynasty during the 19th and early 20th century.

This is the first time, Hue Monuments Conservation Centre and the antique collector Duong Phu Hien collaborate to show their antiquities. On this occasion, the two sides signed a cooperative agreement on the following exhibitions in next year.

In addition, Hue Monuments Conservation Centre also organized a solemn reception ceremony to receive several antiquities including a set of table and chair dated Khai Dinh reign and two basins for ritual cleaning ceremony donated by collector Duong Phu Hien; and other several antiquities donated by Ms. Monie Phuong (a Vietnamese Cambodian) for the rehabilitation of imperial ritual space at Thieu Tri mausoleum and two swords of the Nguyen dynasty donated by the collector Nguyen Huu Hoang.
