The exhibition on “Grand ceremonial costume under Nguyen dynasty (1802-1945)”
In the morning of April 11 2014, at Lieu Quan Buddhist Center-Hue, there organized an opening ceremony of the exhibition on “Grand ceremonial costume under Nguyen dynasty (1802-1945)” of painter Nguyen Van Nhan. The exhibition was co-hosted among researcher Tran Dinh Son, Hue Monuments Conservation Center and Lieu Quan Buddhist Center (15A Le Loi St-Hue City).

At the exhibition, researcher Tran Dinh Son introduced briefly about painter Nguyen Van Nhan as well as the importance of the “Grand ceremonial costume under Nguyen dynasty (1802-1945)”, and explained the origins of each painting.

Nguyen Van Nhan was a brilliant scholar of Vietnam in early XXth century. Until now, information about him has yet to be so popular. We may only know him via the Grande tenue de la Cour d’Annam/ par Nguyễn Văn Nhân/ Biên-tu du Hàn-lâm en disponibilité/ Hué. Decembre 1902. This anthopogy includes 54 watered color paintings, several of them consist of ancient Chinese and French characters about the rank of the drawn persons of the painting. The anthology was made in Hue, December 1902, 100 years right after Nguyen dynasty was founded.

The exhibition named “Grand ceremonial costume under Nguyen dynasty (1802-1945)” of researcher Tran Dinh Son selectively introduced the paintings of artist Nguyen Van Nhan about the costumes used in important ceremonies of Nguyen dynasty. “With “Grand ceremonial costume under Nguyen dynasty (1802-1945)”, we wish to make known the Nguyen dynasty’s images of the hay day to Hue researchers alone and public alike.” Said Tran Dinh Son.
