Vietnam greets over 4.2 million foreign tourists in first half of this year
Foreign tourist arrivals to Vietnam reached more than 4.28 million in the first half of 2014, a year-on-year rise of 21.1%, according to the General Statistics Office.

Of this, over 2.58 million arrivals visited Vietnam for recreation, up 19.3% over a year earlier. Meanwhile, almost 730,000 arrivals came to the country for business in combination with traveling while the number of tourists returned to the homeland to visit relatives was more than 739,000.

Almost all of Vietnam’s tourist markets enjoyed increases compared to the same period last year such as Hong Kong, China (140%), Germany (115.8%), Laos (38.8%), China (37.4%), Cambodia (30%), Russia (25.9%) and Spain (25.7%).

The Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee has reported that the city received 2.1 million foreign tourists in the first six months of this year, up 10% over a year previous or 48% of the year’s target. The city’s total tourism (hotel, restaurant and travel) revenue during the period reached an estimated VND44.2 trillion, a year-on-year rise of 8.5% or 45 percent of the year’s target./.
