The success of the August Revolution ended the 143 ruling years of Nguyen dynasty.

Next, the French returned Indochina, and the American intervention in Vietnam moving to Hue that made Hue become a fierce battle, especially in the war of February 1947 and Mậu Thân War.

During the war, with the severe destruction of bomb, Hue relics in the Imperial City and the Capital City were strongly destroyed. The entrances and fortifications and royal tombs were encroached or devastated.

After 1975, the Complex of Hue Monuments was “wounded” by the war. Many architectural constructions were endangered, or completely destroyed.

Followingly, there continues a hard period of country reconstruction, during which the desertion of Hue relics continues to be alarmed. In addition, in such years as 1953, 1971, 1984 and 1999, Hue suffered from strong natural catastrophes , owing to which Hue relics were severely damaged.

All have become the memory that has been looked back for meditating, to look forwards and to continue with the present.

From 1981, the call for saving Hue and the international mobilization for saving Hue relics were done. Hue relics were gradually survived to be acknowledged as the World Cultural Heritage. Vietnamese government approved the project on Hue ancient capital city’s relic preservation and enhancement from 1995 to 2012 (continued to be adjusted until 2020) to orient Hue heritage preservation.

With 34 poster, the “Hue heritage, memory and present” exhibition parltly reflect the picture about the attached memory pieces of the past and present in a comparative look.

The exihition was carried out in the Vietnamese National Day so that we could have chance to keep on
